Developing the Reading Room

Following a recent survey from Insurers, Ecclesiastical, we are faced with some important  repairs and improvements. Some cracks have appeared on the kitchen extension built in 1975, and we have damp on the back wall and in the chimney. We also have problems with the surrounding trees and moat.

For some time, we have been aware of the need for an integral store room rather than a shed, the hatch is too small and the chimney is weak and damp. Our long term plan is to dismantle the chimney and use the bricks for an extension, then convert the chimney breast into a door, opening on the area outside in front of the moat as a new fire exit.

We need archive storage for the Church & Reading Room, and add a porch and disabled access at the front - the current door would be in the store room. We have had some very sympathetic  drawings and plans made, which are about to be moved on.

The Reading Room will be painted inside and out at the finish, but this work is dependent on Grants and  Fund Raising. Our Annual Car Show is in the balance, but we have had some amazing Raffle prizes donated already!
